Easter Weekend

For Easter, Mike had a four day weekend. We did something fun each day and had a blast! We are so thankful for a long weekend. I really miss the time we had together last fall with him being home while preparing for the move.
For Good Friday, our church had a morning service. A great sermon, the Lords supper, prayer, and fellowship. After, we went to a Texan restaurant! I was so funny to see all the Texas phrases, country music, and food. The ribs and onion rings were great but the rest of the food was not so good. We spent the rest of the day prepping our home for a renters inspection we have in a week. I find it crazy that they come and check out your house every few months and they expect it to be spotless!

On Saturday, we went to Peel Zoo that is about a hour south of us. It is a small zoo with all Australian animals. We loved that there was hands on interaction with the animals. The red kangaroo was my favorite. He let me pet him over the fence and he was so sweet! We ate our lunch in the picnic area and the peacocks joined in. They begged for food the entire time we were eating. One even ate the crumbs off Mikes shorts! When we walked by the Dingoes, Karlee started crying. They came running and were very interested in her. All I could keep thinking of is the phrase "The dingo ate my baby"! There was a petting zoo with Alpaca, sheep, pony, grey kangaroos. Karis was mostly afraid to pet them. They had a walk in aviary with all sorts of beautiful birds. Mike started talking to one bird and before you knew it he flew to Karlee's car seat and tried to eat her toy! Before we left, Mike and Karis had to pet the snake.

For Easter, we had another great sermon and fellowship. Mike took baby duty with Karlee so I could actually listen to an entire sermon! We were invited to afternoon tea at a church family's house.  They have a large property with some animals about 5 minutes from our house. They have an alpaca, sheep, geese, chickens, and a 700lb pig! We all enjoyed seeing and petting the animals as well as chatting with new friends.

On Monday, Mike woke up early and went mountain biking at Kalamunda. He had a great time and said that it was equivalent to Oak Mountain, AL bike trails. A big uphill climb followed by fun down hill trails. After, we met a family from church, the Goodlets, at South Perth to sail on their hobie cat. (This is the same family we went to Australia Day with.)  The night before we had a wind "storm" start with up to 27mph winds. It continued throughout Monday so it made for perfect sailing weather. The boat only held 2 people, so we all took turns sailing from South Perth to down town and back. There were a lot of people out having picnics in the beautiful park. There were older kids with us and they loved playing with Karis. After our eventful weekend we have enjoyed having a slow, rainy week to recover.
